Citizens Artist Collective

It is the mission of the Citizens Artist Collective to foster unity among the professional artists of Citizens Warehouse and to raise public consciousness about the value of the artists who occupy the building and their contributions to the City of Tucson.

The artists of CAC are located in the Citizens Warehouse just west of Stone on 6th Street on the edge of Dunbar Spring neighborhood.

While many of the artists are here most days, generally few of them keep any regular hours. Twice per year we participate in Open Studios Tours—once in the spring and again in the fall. We also have special events and openings so please subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop. Or like us on Facebook for frequent updates.

The tenants of Citizens have concerns about maintaining the warehouse as affordable artist studios and home to BICAS. While not in any immediate danger, if we do not coordinate our efforts properly, there is a chance of losing the building to large corporate investors.

The building is currently owned by the Arizona Department of Transportation. There is a lease agreement in place between ADOT and WAMO. When that lease is up, the building could go up for public auction. The artists, BICAS and WAMO are working closely together to find solutions to purchasing the building at such time (if not sooner) to keep it from slipping away from us and the Downtown Warehouse Arts District.

Currently, there are no studios available in the Citizens Warehouse. But please fill out a studio application and you will be added to the waiting list and contacted if something comes available.
