Gavin Hugh Troy

Gavin Hugh Troy's picture

Gavin Troy lives and works in the downtown arts district of Tucson.

Gavin is an artist who loves the process of being creative in many aspects of his life. You may find him riding his bike around finding an old piece of wood, taking it to his studio to give it a new life as a painting.

For the past 20 years Gavin has enjoyed the process of painting as a means to self-discovery and sharing this non-verbal form with others. His work in the studio has become a way to communicate and tap into the endless reiver of creativity within his own being.

"The line is an important element in my work as I practice drawing every day, then enter into the studio and allow the work to unfold."

Inspired by forms and colors in his surroundings and combining them with inner landscape, the work unfolds as a never-ending story. Each painting becomes a record of the journey.

Along with painting on wood, Gavin works on canvas, makes collage wood block pieces and is currently working with bronze sculpture.

Gavin teaches art and creativity at the Tucson Museum of Art and is a mentor at Precott College (Tucson branch).
